Challenge

The Challenge

Pricefx had a working product that was invisible to the market. Their Actionable Insights engine — internally called Watchers — had monitored pricing data and surfaced anomalies for enterprise customers for years. The technology worked. But no one outside the company understood what it was, why it mattered, or how it compared to the AI claims coming from every competitor.

PROS, Vendavo, and Zilliant were all making aggressive AI claims. Enterprise buyers were asking pointed questions. The sales team had no coherent AI narrative. And the existing product was positioned as a monitoring feature, not an intelligent agent.

The company faced three interconnected problems: a product identity problem (the name described the mechanism, not the value), a product architecture problem (every configuration required hand-built JSON — no catalog, no automation, no natural-language creation path), and a commercial model problem (bundled at no charge, with no monetization path and no expansion motion).

Pricefx needed someone who could operate at CPO level while having the technical depth to define the LLM integration, agent orchestration, and data pipeline. They needed an operator, not a consultant.

RealWorldAI.Work was embedded as a Forward Deployed AI Strategist, working directly with the Chief Product Officer across a compressed four-month engagement.

Led the strategic repositioning from Watchers to Agents. Designed the Agent Type Catalog — 125 specialized, pre-built pricing agent templates across twelve categories, each with business objectives, data requirements, detection logic, and KPI thresholds.

Designed the multi-agent orchestration architecture: Data Quality Agent (cold-start onboarding), Watcher Creation Agent (LLM-powered natural language configuration), Orchestration Agent (end-to-end validation), and User Interaction Agent (Copilot integration).

Authored the complete SAFe product specification — positioning statement, hypothesis, KPIs, 12+ user stories with acceptance criteria, and phased rollout — presented to CPO, SVP Engineering, and VP Product.

Built a working Agent Creator prototype demonstrating LLM-powered agent creation with vector-DB knowledge base, schema validation, and JSON export — serving as both architecture validation and sales demo asset.

Transitioned into ongoing FDE engagement — embedded with Fortune 500 customers running co-innovation workshops and generating product intelligence for the Agents 2.0 roadmap.

Solution

What We Delivered

The engagement produced a complete product — from strategic repositioning through technical architecture through working prototype — in under four months. The internal framing: a '90/10 play — 90% repositioning, 10% build.'

The Agent Type Catalog answered the buyer's question before they asked it: not 'what can your AI do?' but 'here are 125 specific things it already does — which of these problems do you have?' The multi-agent architecture leveraged every existing system while introducing an intelligent orchestration layer. The prototype validated the architecture and gave sales a demo asset before engineering built it into the platform.

Pricefx launched Agents on July 15, 2025. The Agents Accelerator 1.0 followed August 5. RealWorldAI.Work continued through SOW extensions covering Copilot deployment, AI performance optimization, and enterprise co-innovation.

Results

The product launched on July 15, 2025. Within six months, 26 deals were signed, 50+ companies deployed, and 200+ were in pipeline. One early adopter identified $500K+ in revenue uplift across 70 products. Deployment time: under 5 days, zero code, zero implementation.
